The Pitch Map

The Pitch Map (the Map item in the sidebar) is your park as a picture: every pitch in its place, colour-coded by what's happening with it, with today's guests one drag away from their pitch. It's the tool for changeover days, walk-ins, and anyone who answers "which pitch are they on?"

Reading the map

  • Pick a Date at the top — the map shows that night's confirmed guests.
  • Stat chips summarise it: Total, Occupied, Available, Maintenance.
  • Pitch colours follow the accommodation-group colour (Tent green, Tourer blue, Motorhome orange, Room purple, Static teal), with shading for Available (light), Occupied (solid) and Maintenance (grey). The Legend card explains it all.
  • Hover a pitch for its number, type, status and current guest.
  • Click an occupied pitch to open the customer drawer; right-click for a context menu (View Customer Details, Unassign from Pitch, Edit Pitch).
  • Prefer a list? Switch to Table view — a "Pitch List" with Pitch, Type, Status, Guest, Dates and Accommodation columns; rows are drop targets too.

Assigning guests to pitches

The sidebar on the left splits tonight's guests:

  • Unassigned — confirmed guests with no pitch, shown as draggable cards with their accommodation, dates and party
  • Assigned — guests already on a pitch ("Pitch {number}" chip)

To assign:

  • Drag an unassigned card onto an empty pitch, or
  • Click an empty pitch and pick the guest from the "Assign to Pitch {number}" dialog.

To move or free someone: drag their card to the Unassigned panel, use the context menu, or press Unassign in the customer drawer.

Check-in shortcut

Arriving from a Check In action with no pitch assigned? The map opens in check-in mode with that guest's card highlighted — dropping them on a pitch checks them in at the same time ("Guest checked in and assigned to pitch").

The customer drawer

Click any occupied pitch for the full picture: Customer (name, contact details, address), Stay Details (check-in, check-out, nights, status), Party (adults, children, infants, pets), Pricing (accommodation, total, remaining balance) and any Special Requests. From here you can Unassign or Check Out / Early Checkout the guest.

Editing the layout

Press Edit Layout to rearrange or extend your park:

  • Drag to move • Click map to add • Click pitch to edit — the hint bar says it all.
  • Clicking the map opens the Add Pitch drawer (number, accommodation type, status, position); clicking a pitch opens it for editing.
  • Positions are percentages of the canvas — nudge them with the X/Y/Width/ Height fields for precision.
  • Use Map Background to put a satellite image of your actual park behind the pitches: search for your location, draw a polygon around the park (minimum 3 points), press Convert to Map and Use This Map.
  • Zoom controls (25% steps) help when the park is large.

Saving for one date only

Layout edits default to All dates — the permanent layout. Switch to This date to make a temporary change for just the selected day (a rally, a marquee, a one-off layout). Days with an override show a Custom layout chip; click it to revert to the default.

Deleting a pitch

Delete Pitch (in the Danger Zone of the edit drawer) permanently removes the pitch from the layout. Bookings assigned to it need reassigning.

Printing

Press Print for a printable sheet of the selected date:

  • header with the date and the day's stats
  • a miniature Site Map with pitch numbers and guest initials
  • a Pitch Assignments table — pitch, type, guest (owners marked "(Owner)"), dates and accommodation

It's the perfect handover sheet for whoever's on reception.

Everyday patterns

  • Changeover morning — set the date, work the Unassigned list top to bottom, print, done.
  • Walk-in — drag the guest's card to a free pitch, check them in from the drawer.
  • Finding someone — Table view, scan the Guest column.
  • Planning works — mark pitches Maintenance in Pitch Management so they can't be assigned.
